Soap Making Youtube is Super Cool (09/02/2024)

Hey everyone! Today I wanna ramble a bit about artisan soap making and why I'm fascinated by it.

So for the past couple of years, I've been watching videos from this lovely soap making channel called "Royalty Soaps".

It features this very sweet woman named Katie who runs a small business of the same name, and films herself making the soap she sells on her online store.

Her soap bar ideas and designs are so cool and unique! Her themes for soap bars range from fun, playful ideas like food and 90's inspired designs, to beautiful nature and fantasy designs. Her soaps is so colourful and fun, with a lot of her bars being piled high with glittery soap frosting. She can also make amazing designs without the glitter and frosting too, so she's diverse with what she's able to make. It's hard to not want to eat them too! They all look like delicious cakes, even when they don't have frosting!

While I love watching the process of her making the soaps, I'm especially fascinated by Katie herself. She's just such a sweet person, and her commentary and stories about her life and various topics are interesting! She has an optimistic view on life and a bubbly personality, which in turn make her videos comforting to watch too.

She also has soap-making tutorials that are cool to watch! I would like to try and make my own little soaps someday! Cold-process soaps still seem a bit tough and expensive to make though, so I'd start off with melt-and-pour soaps.

Here are some videos that showcase some of my favourite designs from her! Another thing I love about her videos is that she isn't afraid to show her mistakes on camera.

(Yes I know all of these are food themed but here me out: they look amazing. I would have linked this really nice 70's themed one I could find it, but I couldn't find it.)

To end this little entry, I would like to share two more soap-making vids from some other channels besides Royalty soaps. The soap making community on Youtube is very talented, so I encourage you check them out if you are interested in this sort of thing!
