Hey guys! Today I wanna bring your attention to a really cool, new Yuri manga called "Love Bullet" by Inee! I heard about this manga on Twitter a couple of days ago when Yuri fans were raising awareness about it struggling to continue due to low sales of Volume 1. I thought that the artwork was really pretty and eyecatching, so I decided to read it today on Mangadex. While the story is only 7 chapters long right now, it's pretty good so far!
In Love Bullet's world, people who die without experiencing love are granted a second chance at life by the Goddess of Love by becoming cupids! But, instead of using the traditional bow-and-arrow, they use modern firearms like pistols, rifles and grenade launchers! The story revolves around the new rookie cupid, Koharu, working together with her seniors, Ena, Chiyo and Kanna, to help people fall in love with suitable partners!
The manga starts off with a bang with Chapter 0, in which we see the Cupids engaging an intense gunfight with eachother to resolve a love triangle between 3 childhood friends by deciding if Hina should be paired up with Aoi or Daito. And they do all of their fighting in the middle of a busy Mcdonalds! This chapter does a solid job at establishing the main 4, the whole matchmaking concept and telling an entertaining, tense short story about the angels trying to decide who Hina should fall in love with. The action scenes are engaging, dynamic and well illustrated!
Chapter 1 elaborates on Koharu's past, her cause of death and how she became a cupid by exploring her high school life, as well as her friendship with her friend Aki, who one day confesses her romantic feelings for Koharu. We also see that Koharu seems to have a natural talent for matchmaking, as we also see how she successfully paired up several classmates together when she was alive.
This chapter then leads to the first story arc of the manga, where Koharu is reborn as a cupid and goes on her first mission with her mentor, Kanna, to find a suitable partner for Aki, who is now attending university. This arc was bittersweet and beautifully written, as we get to see Aki and Koharu coping with the feelings they still have for eachother while also trying to move on with their new lives.
I really enjoyed reading Love Bullet, and I hope to see it succeed in telling its unique story! Yuri/GL mangas often struggle to stay afloat due to the lack of marketing they usually get, which leads to a lack of sales and support. Thanks to recent posts from fans raising awareness about this lovely manga, the physical copy of Volume 1 sold out on several online marketplaces in a matter of days! I'm hoping that this recent wave of support would be enough to help Inee continue this story! If you would like to support it, you could read it on Mangadex, spread the word about it and, if possible, buy a physical copy of it whenever it becomes available to purchase again. The creator is also on Twitter and Pixiv!
