Hi everyone! Today, I'll be talking about a very interesting song that's been popular on the anime side of Youtube late last year! It's Loli God Requiem by Japanese vtuber, Shigure Ui!
About roughly a month or two ago, I first heard about this song through a Revsaysdesu video, where he discussed how popular and well-received the song was regardless of the backlash against it from people on social media. I was curious to see what the song was about, so I decided to check it out for myself.
The song's premise is simple: a cutesy, little loli sets out to purge the world of perverts. I'm plesantly surprised by how well made it is! The song is very catchy, upbeat, cute and fun! It perfectly contrasts the dark humour of the whole premise. Alsom the animations and illustations of Shigure Ui's Loli girl are gorgeous! I found myself replaying the music video again and again to not only listen to the song, but to also look at the loli god's sick dance moves! I didn't expect to like this song so much! It's an absolute banger!
A common misconception people have about the song is that it has an "anti-lolicon" message and that it supposedly warns people to never become lolicons, but digging deeper into the background of Shigure Ui proves that this isn't true. This song was originally made as just an inside joke among Shigure Ui (who seems to be a bit of a lolicon) and her fans, many of whom are actually lolicons and shotacons themselves. Many of them also seem to have a sort of humiliation fetish as well. By playfully insulting fans, loli Shigure Ui seems to fit into the "kusogaki" loli architype ("kusogaki" translates to "spoiled brat" or "shitty brat"), in which many find it appealing when she straight up roasts them for being lolicons. I've seen many people say that she fits into the "mesugaki" architype (similiar to kusogaki, but insults are more sexual and vulgar in nature) but personally I don't see it. I never thought her roasts were sexual, but rather super blunt and straight-to-the-point.
Here's a translated clip of a recent stream in which Shigure Ui playfully roasts her viewers while playing her loli character. I like how her insults are hilarious, but never done to genuinely shame or hurt anyone. Everyone is in on the joke and everything is done in good fun!
I really enjoy this song, and I also enjoy loli Shigure Ui's brutal roasts. I hope to see more cool music like this come out from her and other Vtubers in the future!
